A bar or bat mitzvah is a proud day for your child and your whole family, and the celebration should feel just as meaningful as the service. DJ Sam House has been DJing and MCing events across Los Angeles for more than 20 years. I help families plan a party that honors tradition, gets the kids on the dance floor, and keeps grandparents and friends happy too.
A party for every generation
A mitzvah crowd covers every age, often in the same room. I plan the music and the flow of the evening so the teens have their moments, the adults have theirs, and the dance floor brings everyone together. We'll talk ahead of time about your family, your child's favorite music, and any traditions that matter to you.
What I handle as your DJ and MC
The horah. I'll introduce it, cue the music at the right moment, and coordinate with your family for the chair lift, so it's joyful and safe.
Candle lighting. I'll help you organize the honorees, read or support each introduction, and play the songs you choose for each candle, keeping the ceremony moving and heartfelt.
Grand entrance and introductions. Your child and family get the welcome they deserve, timed with the music you pick.
Teen games and dancing. Interactive games and dances keep the kids engaged and the energy up, and I adjust based on how the crowd responds.
Blessings, toasts and the program. I'll coordinate with you, your event planner and the venue so the blessings, speeches, meal and cake all happen on time.
Pricing
Sunday through Friday events start at $1,200 for 4 hours. Saturday events start at $1,800 for 4 hours. Additional hours are $250 per hour.
Add-ons:
- Uplighting: 12 fixtures for $300, to give the room color and atmosphere.
- Other lighting: available on request.
- Satellite setups: separate sound for another space, such as a cocktail hour for the adults while the kids are in the main room, is available.

I'm based in Los Angeles and DJ mitzvahs throughout LA County and Southern California, at synagogues, hotels, restaurants, event spaces and private homes.
FAQ
Can you play music for both the kids and the adults?
Yes. That's one of the most important parts of a mitzvah. I mix current hits for the teens with music the adults love, and plan dedicated sets for each when it helps.
Will you MC the candle lighting ceremony?
Yes. I'll work with you beforehand on the order, the introductions and the songs, and I'll keep it running smoothly on the day.
Can we have separate spaces for adults and kids?
Yes. A satellite setup lets me provide music for a second room or area, such as an adult cocktail hour.
How far ahead should we book?
Many families book well in advance, so reach out as soon as you have a date. It's always worth asking, even if your date is coming up soon.
