On September 19, 2009, Marisa and Greg celebrated their wedding reception at the Grand Californian Hotel, right across from Disneyland. I'm DJ Sam House, and I had the pleasure of providing the music for the evening. Everything went great and everybody had a good time. What more can you ask for? How about another full day at Disneyland?
A reception with a little magic
The Grand Californian is a hotel connected to the Disneyland Resort, so a wedding reception there has its own special energy. If you're planning a wedding near a theme park, guests are often excited to be in the area, which can make for an extra-fun party.
Personal details that stand out
One of my favorite touches was a custom monogram projected on the wall with the couple's names and wedding date. Little details like that add a personal feel to the room and look great in photos. The cake, with its deep red flowers, set the tone of the evening and gave guests another fun reason to snap pictures.
Planning tip: a destination-style wedding near a resort
Whether it's a wedding near a theme park or a weekend getaway, a few thoughtful touches go a long way:
- Welcome your guests. Share a short itinerary so out-of-town guests know what to expect.
- Plan for energy levels. If guests want a full day at the parks, a reception that ends at a reasonable time keeps everyone happy.
- Personalize the room. A monogram, a custom sign or a photo montage helps a large hotel space feel like yours.
Have fun on the rides, and be sure to check out Space Mountain!
Congratulations again, Greg and Marisa!
