From the penthouse of the Beverly Hilton, you could see the whole city and, far below, the cars zooming along to wherever they were headed. I'm DJ Sam House, and on November 8, 2009 I had the pleasure of celebrating with Mike and Joey up there on their wedding day.
A change of perspective
Sometimes a change in perspective helps you step back and see what truly matters, and what mattered that day was love. Mike and Joey have it, and it filled the room. Life is too short not to love someone out loud, and weddings are a great reminder of that.
Everybody had a blast
The reception was full of joy. Guests celebrated with Mike and Joey on the dance floor, and yes, we even got in an Electric Slide. There is something wonderful about a room full of people, from close friends to relatives, all moving the same direction at once.
Planning tip: don't skip the group dances
A few group songs can turn a good dance floor into a great one. If you like the idea of an Electric Slide or another crowd favorite, tell your DJ in advance. We can place it at the right moment, usually when the dance floor needs a boost or when you want family members who haven't danced yet to join in. And if group dances aren't your style, say so! Your DJ should always follow your lead.
Planning tip: hotel ballrooms and penthouse spaces
Hotels like the Beverly Hilton have experienced banquet teams, which makes planning smooth. Before the wedding, ask about load-in times, music cut-off times and whether your DJ can do a quick sound check. A little advance coordination keeps the evening stress-free.
Congratulations again, Mike and Joey. Thank you for letting me be part of your special day.
