It was a pleasure heading down to Orange County for another fun event. I'm DJ Sam House, and on August 24, 2008 House Entertainment performed for the second year at Rancho Santa Margarita's POP-Warner Football and Cheerleading annual carnival. The first year went so well that they asked us back for more, and we had a blast.
MC Egypt gets the kids dancing
MC Egypt got all the kids out there dancing to the Cha Cha Slide, and then he magically transformed into Teen Wolf and got everyone doing Thriller. We also watched cheerleading performances by the team's Titans and Mustangs. Kids' events work best when everyone, young and old, can participate, and MC Egypt is a master at making that happen.
Why a DJ and an MC are a great team
A DJ takes care of the music, lighting and sound, while an MC leads the games, dances and announcements. Together, they can keep an outdoor event running smoothly and keep the energy high. That's especially important when guests range from toddlers to grandparents.
Planning tip: school and community carnivals
If you're organizing a carnival or fundraiser for kids, here are a few tips:
- Choose familiar songs. Kids love dances they already know, such as the Cha Cha Slide.
- Plan for the outdoors. Shade, power and a clear spot for the sound system make a big difference.
- Schedule performances. Cheer squads, dance teams and other groups add variety and help parents enjoy the day.
Thank you to Rancho Santa Margarita's POP-Warner program for inviting us back.
