Rose & Rami's Wedding at the Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey

When a couple says they want their wedding to be entertaining from start to finish, I get excited. Rose and Rami's celebration at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey in October 2008 was exactly that. I'm DJ Sam House, and the only word I had when I got home that night was "WOW."

A night packed with entertainment

Before dinner, I got everyone out on the dance floor to warm up, which is one of my favorite ways to set the tone for a reception. Once dinner began, the entertainment kept coming. First, a flamenco dancer named Sahara performed for the room, and then the belly dancing group Sahlala took over and entertained the room all through dinner.

After dinner everyone headed back to the dance floor, and Rami showed off a few of his own moves. There wasn't a dull moment all night.

The team behind the scenes

A great reception takes a great team. Stephanie from Exquisite Events Specialists helped keep everything running smoothly, and Jennifer from Dress My Chair provided the plush chairs that gave the room its polished look. When the planner, the DJ and the other vendors all communicate, the couple gets to relax and enjoy their own party.

Planning tip: live performers and your DJ

If you're booking dancers, musicians or other live acts, share the schedule with your DJ early. We can time the music around performances, handle introductions, and make sure sound and lighting are ready, so every act gets a smooth start and a great reaction from the crowd.

Congratulations again, Rami and Rose. You two are an awesome couple, and it was a pleasure celebrating with you.
